Chapter Recruitment

Sorority Recruitment at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a six-day event. This process takes place the week before the start of Fall classes, and it kicks off the new year for us. During these six days, potential new members will have the chance to ask questions, tour houses, get acquainted with women from different organizations, discover what each chapter offers, and find which is the best fit for them.

Bid Day

As the final day of Recruitment comes, after a week of meeting many women and making tough decisions, it is time for some fun! Running to the house you have just joined will be one of the most exciting times of your college experience. The women of Kappa Kappa Gamma will greet you with open arms and have a day full of fun activities.

To begin Bid Day, as it is called at UNL, all the women of the Sigma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma will meet on the front lawn. After introductions and a chance to meet the other girls that have also joined Kappa (your new member class), the New Member Chair will lead a day of fun events. Bid Day is a chance to see what each member brings to this wonderful chapter!

Kappa New Member Program

Our New Member Program is a six-week process that includes fun activities within the chapter such as our philanthropy, Sneak (decorating live-ins' rooms), Inspiration Week, Pass the Key with your new pledge class, and end with Initiation. Each new member receives a "Big Sister" to help them get acquainted with the house, their classes, and Kappa's values. New members and the women in the class above them participate in many social events designed to help each other get acquainted before Bigs/Littles are assigned. After a few weeks of bonding, both new members and active members have the opportunity to mutually select whom they would like as their Big/Little. As you get older you will then soon become a "big" to a potential "little" and from then on until your senior year when you become a "great grandma" of your Kappa family.

Continuous Open Bidding

At this time the Sigma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma does not participate in Continuous Open Bidding (COB).
