Chapter Philanthropy

“Don't give to get. Give to inspire others to give.”

As individuals with time, talents, and treasures, Kappas first support our sisters; second, we participate in local service projects; and third, we serve the greater good.

Chapter fundraising is very important to the women of our chapter. In recent years our chapter has been honored to support causes such as the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Association, the Epilepsy Foundation, Hope of the Poor, Foundations of Women's Cancer, and more.

Sigma Philanthropies

Kappa Kappa Gamma - Sigma Chapter is unique in the way that we do our philanthropy. While cautiously supporting Kappa's National Philanthropy, we also are given the opportunity to vote as a chapter on specific organizations to hold fundraising events all based on what is important to chapter women at the time. Each semester, we hold philanthropy events for the students of the University of Nebraska, friends, and family to attend. This past semester, we held events such as a 5k to raise money for Hope of the Poor and a raffle to raise money for the Foundation of Women's Cancer. These events were an amazing way to get our community involved with some of the organizations that mean so much to the women of our chapter.

Kappa's National Philanthropy

In 2021, Kappa Kappa Gamma changed our national philanthropy to Mental Health and Well-Being. On the national level, Kappa decided to make this switch because they recognized the importance of well-being, and how important the topic of mental health was to so many of its members. Rather than selecting a single organization for its chapters to donate to, Kappa Nationals decided to broaden its reach by collaborating with multiple different organizations all of which advocate for positive mental health. The partnered organizations include:

Active Minds

The Jed Foundation

Mental Health America

National Alliance on Mental Illness

The National Eating Disorders Association
